What to Expect at the Initial Consultation

When you call to schedule an initial consultation, we will ask for the opposing party’s full name. This is necessary in order for us to confirm that we do not have a conflict of interest. Even if you are certain that there is no conflict, we are still ethically obligated to perform a conflicts check.

If you have received any correspondence from an attorney representing your spouse, please bring that correspondence to the initial consultation. Likewise, if you have been served with any court documents, you will need to bring those documents to the initial consultation.

Do not bring anyone with you to the consultation. If you must have someone provide transportation for you, please arrange for the driver to drop you off and pick you up after the consultation If child care is an issue, please reschedule your appointment for a time when you have childcare available.

The length of the initial consultation varies. Consultations in our office generally last 50 minutes.
