After representing clients in court for more than twenty years and witnessing the resulting emotional and financial wreckage, I encourage my clients to use alternative methods for resolving their divorce related conflict. My commitment to helping clients peacefully transition through divorce has evolved over time, influenced by my personal and professional experiences.

A Texas native, I grew up in a remote part of West Texas, where my father was the County Sheriff, and my mother was a homemaker (stay-at-home mom, in the current lingo). Although I did not attend a one room schoolhouse, I did attend a one building schoolhouse, with first through twelfth grades under the same roof. I went to school with basically the same eighteen students from first grade through graduation.

Most of my adult life has been lived in North Carolina where I attended Sacred Heart College, graduated from Belmont Abbey College, and obtained my law degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law. I have enjoyed living in Asheville, Charlotte and now in the Triangle.

When I am not working, I am spending time with my dog Ziva, my cats Lovey and Luke and my parakeet Jonah, each of whom was rescued. Over the past twenty five years, I have provided forever homes for dozens of dogs, cats and various livestock. In warm weather months, when there is no pandemic, you might run into me at a Bluegrass festival or a Durham Bulls game.
