Sheryl T. Friedrichs
A native of Kent County, Texas, where her father was the County Sheriff, Sheryl has lived her adult life in North Carolina, having lived in Charlotte prior to moving to the Triangle. Sheryl is a second career attorney who, before law school, worked for the AT&T family of companies, including Southern Bell and BellSouth. During her years with the phone company, she worked in Corporate Communications and was an active participant with the BellSouth Speakers Bureau in Charlotte.
Since becoming licensed to practice law in 1998, Sheryl has served as a peer counselor volunteer with the North Carolina Lawyers Assistance Program, a subcommittee of the North Carolina State Bar, which provides confidential assistance to North Carolina lawyers to help identify and address problems with alcoholism, other drug addictions, and mental health disorders. She has served two terms on the state Governing Board of the Lawyers Assistance Program.
Her extensive work with the Lawyers Assistance Program has given Sheryl deeper insight into the impact substance abuse and mental health issues have on the entire family. Experience representing clients who are coping with substance abuse or mental health issues - and representing clients who have a spouse suffering with substance abuse or mental health issues - has given Sheryl an understanding of how those issues affect the dynamics of a family law case.
When she is not working, Sheryl enjoys caring for her numerous dogs and cats, each of whom was rescued. Sheryl is passionate about animals and over the past several years has provided forever homes for dozens of dogs, cats and various livestock.
Sheryl is a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Wake Forest.
